At an idle, air flow through the carburetor is not sufficient to draw the fuel in, like it does when it is running. Small passages, below the throttle plates, allow the engine vacuum to draw the fuel in. We can usually adjust the air/fuel ratio by turning the idle mixture adjustment-screw.
There should be a switch on the firewall with 2 lines on it. But how to make it work is another thing. You will need some kind of actuator and a way to adjust make it adjustable. Then have it hook to the carb. and pull the throttle just slightly. OR you might be able to have it make a vacuum leek and it will rise the idle on that alone.
4. With solenoid energized, open throttle slightly and plunger will extend. Release throttle and adjust to desired RPM by turning hex head on plunger counter-clockwise to increase RPM and clockwise to decrease. When solenoid is de-energized plunger will retract. Fast idle speed is set up on the second step of the cam, about 1300 is good. Make sure your Ruggles choke pulloff is still operating correctly, make sure it hold vac, and still releases at that 2 or so seconds and just doesn't pop out. Make sure you still have 12vdc supplied to the choke. Normal setting for a GM choke coil is about level
You can access this port by disconnecting the throttle-body-to-airbox hose clamp, twisting and pulling the hose off, and then pushing the hose away from the throttle body opening. Apply a liberal amount of solvent in the port opening. Re-connect the hose and turn the engine on and off a few times to allow the IAC valve to loosen the carbon and
